The Sabres are Sheahan’s fifth team since the 2017-18 season. He’s played for the Detroit Red Wings, Pittsburgh Penguins, Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers. Sheahan led all Edmonton Oilers in penalty-kill ice time in 2019-2020 season.
“He’s a pro off the ice, on the ice. He plays the game the right way, he stays above the puck defensively, he’s somebody we could inject anywhere for stability and to top it off he’s an excellent character.” – Sabres Coach, Ralph Krueger
“You have to figure out ways to get through the struggles of being a pro-athlete. It’s an unbelievable lifestyle, it’s a dream, but there’s also a part of it that can be taxing and stressful.”
Riley is a contemplative man who strives to become better off the ice as an all around human which, in turn, naturally effects his success on the ice. Reading, journaling and spending time in nature are a few of the keys to the mental side of Riley’s game..
This guitar player started in his younger years, and once professional hockey became his career he found a little more time to train himself and practice during his off time. He enjoys playing duets with his fiance’, who happens to be a very talented singer. When playing solo, he finds the guitar to be a good escape and healthy mental reset.
Right now Sheahan considers himself a “campfire guitarist” who knows a few chords, but we’re thinking bigger. We’ll let you judge for yourself…
